Tenderfoot Rank Requirements

Picture

Overview

This page will document the requirements for Tenderfoot Rank.  Items that are already signed off in my Scout Book Handbook will not be documented here.  I will use this page to capture items that need additional documentation.

Section 3 - Tools

3d - Proper Care, Sharpening, and Usage

Demonstrate proper care, sharpening, and use of the knife, saw, and ax. Describe when each should be used.

I watched the video below from Scouter Rob on 11/01/2021:

To sharpen an ax, I referred to this page to review the process:
How to Sharpen an Ax – Scout Life magazine

The video below shows me sharpening an ax with a file.
To sharpen a pocketknife, I used this page:

The video below shows me sharpening a packet knife using a whetstone.
To sharpen a bow saw, I used this video to learn the skill:
How to Sharpen a Bow Saw - YouTube

I do not have a bow saw so I could not demonstrate the sharpening technique.

Section 9 - Scout Spirit

Demonstrate Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Tell how you have done your duty to God and how you have lived four different points of the Scout Law in your everyday life.
I have done my duty to God through the activities and teachings at my church, Covenant United Methodist Church.  One example is attending church regularly.  I attend church every Sunday I can and I participate as a acolyte for the morning service.  I am active in the student ministry which include Loft (a teen fellowship group) and I am going through the Methodist confirmation program.  Our student ministry also provide many service projects to the community and to fellow church members.
Trustworthy - When an adult asks me to do something, I do it.  I want my family and other adults to know that I will do what I say I will do.

Loyal - I show loyalty to my friends.  I want my friends to trust that I will be there for them when they need it.  I am supportive of my friends, I will always lend a hand, and I will listen

Helpful - when I see someone is in need of help, I ask if they need assistance and I will help them the best that I can.  When I help, I help to the best of my ability.

Kind - I want to be kind to my family and friends and let them know I respect them.  I like to help younger people when I see them struggling with a task.  I also like to show kindness to animals and treat them with respect and care for them the best that I can.
